MINNESOTA Ground-Water Quality Nearly one-half the population of Minnesota (fig. 1) depends on wells for drinking water. Virtually all the rural population and 94 percent of the public-water systems use ground water. In general, the quality of Minnesota's ground water is.
Groundwater availability in Minnesota varies by region. It is more difficult to access in the northeast, when it’s available at all, and is scarce in some areas of the southwest.

Groundwater level data are collected and stored as either discrete field-water-level measurements or as continuous time-series data from automated recorders.
